Invited by the president of the “Agostinho Neto” Foundation Mrs. Maria Eugénia Neto, widow of Mr. A.Neto, the Embassy took part on September 14, 2013 at the “International Gastronomy Exhibition,” one of the events celebrating the 91st anniversary of the birth of the first Angolan president and the 50th anniversary of the African Union, in Catete, near Luanda.

Traditional Serbian food tasting has generated a large interest among local visitors, as well as among representatives of other Embassies, which resulted in our stand being the most visited one. During the tasting, visitors struck up conversation with Embassy representatives, showing interest in Serbian cuisine, folklore, as well as Serbian landmarks.

Apart from traditional Serbian specialties, visitors were drawn by the traditional folk costume from Šumadija (central Serbia), worn by the Ambassador’s spouse. Visitors inquired about the creation process of the costume, as well as our folk tradition, and took photographs.

While visiting the Serbian stand, Mrs. Maria Eugénia Neto tasted traditional Serbian food, and thanked the Embassy staff for participating. On his behalf, Ambassador Dragan Marković reflected on the decades of friendship between the Angolan and Serbian peoples, and pointed out that Serbian people remember President Agostinho Neto as a good friend.
