President of Republic of Serbia Tomislav Nikolíc, speaking at an event "Day of Africa" held in Belgrade on May 27, 2013, said that Serbia will promote intensive cooperation in politics, economy, education, sports and culture with African countries. "Serbia has a long tradition of good relations with all countries on the African continent. As the President of the Republic, I am firmly committed to contribute to the strengthening of all kinds of cooperation between Serbia and African countries", president Nikolic said. He also said that he is proud of the role of Serbia in the process of liberation of the peoples of Africa, of the contribution we have made to anti-colonial struggle led by liberation movements, of the place of Beograde in Non-Aligned Movement, as well as the education of thousands of African students at universities in Serbia, and said that in scholarship programs for foreign students African youth will have an irreplaceable place. Öfficers of Serbian army and police in Congo, Liberia, Somalia, Ivory Coast, and soon in Mali, will continue to be part of international efforts to achieve peace in Africa", president Nikolic said.
